Northern VA Trans. Authority checked by VA Supreme Court
A few weeks ago the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) was kept in check by the Virginia Supreme Court. The taxes recently put into effect by the NVTA were ruled as unconstitutional in that the NVTA had no authority to levy such taxes. This decision was made after much controversy and anger concerning the methods employed by the General Assembly in Richmond to deal with transportation issues affecting the Northern Virginia counties.
